DeGerlia Expert Consulting (DEC) is a research organization and expert consulting practice founded by Tom DeGerlia. We solve complex problems — in courtrooms, boardrooms, and laboratories — with a systematic approach to objectivity that cuts through rhetoric and convention.
Our Story
DEC grew out of more than 35 years of cross-disciplinary professional experience. Tom DeGerlia built and led Colorado Digital, a Denver-based software development and digital strategy company, for close to 25 years. That work brought him into contact with complex problems across industries — from environmental science and forensic analysis to software architecture and legal consulting.
In 2020, Tom founded DEC to focus on what he does best: solving problems that require deep expertise, intellectual honesty, and the ability to see what others miss. Today, DEC serves attorneys, courts, municipalities, businesses, and the research community.
Problem-Solving Methodology
The common thread across everything DEC does is a systematic approach to objectivity. We do not get caught up in groupthink, rhetoric, or preconceived notions. We probe thoroughly and persistently until an acceptable solution has been executed.
This methodology — founded in the scientific method — is what allows DEC to work across domains. The same rigor that produces defensible expert testimony in a courtroom produces breakthrough research in physics. The disciplines are different; the approach is the same.
